Functional Skills in Maths (Entry Level up to Level 2)

Functional Skills Mathematics qualifications are designed to give learners the skills to operate confidently, effectively and independently in education, work and everyday life. They have been created in response to employers’ perceptions that many learners are not achieving a sufficiently firm grounding in the basics.

Entry Level Mathematics Functional Skills are ideal for learners wishing to develop practical, transferable skills in maths in order to work confidently, effectively and independently in life. They’re suitable for a wide range of individuals and is fundamental to the successful completion of various wider qualifications and frameworks, such as Study Programme or further studies.

Functional Skills qualifications in Mathematics at Level 1 and 2 are suitable for a wide range of individuals and is fundamental to the successful completion of various wider qualifications and frameworks, such as apprenticeships, further education or higher education including going to University.

The aims of these qualifications are to develop learner understanding and skills in:

  • Representing – selecting the mathematics and information to model a situation.
  • Analysing – processing and using mathematics.
  • Interpreting – interpreting and communication the results of the analysis
The skills your learners acquire can be applied to different problem solving scenarios present in everyday life and the workplace.

Duration: 8 weeks – 32 weeks (Can be tailored for shorter period)

Age ranges: These qualifications are approved for delivery to learners aged 16 and above but can be tailored for younger ages.
